The problem she faced as a business owner

Belinda was setting up her business after a successful career at the Jockey Club where she worked for over eighteen years. It can be overwhelming becoming self-employed after such a long time in the corporate world.

Belinda has over nineteen years of experience in a number of industries including entertainment, hospitality, manufacturing and retail. She says that innovation in the business world motivates her and she enjoys using finance to add value to businesses and embrace the challenges of sustainability and working towards net zero.

When Belinda began her one-to-one business coaching with Real World Consultancy her main aims were to create a marketing plan for her business and particularly to create a strategy for networking.

How we helped

At the beginning Belinda’s Business Strength Analyser score was 55%. This is an amalgamation of scores for products and services, sales, customers, strategy, team, finance, technology, formalities, and wider impact.

During the coaching sessions, we focused on creating a marketing strategy for Belinda’s financial business. We explored the benefits of building an email list, using different online platforms and creating a networking plan.

We also introduced her to our own free networking events to kickstart the process, introducing her to our Worcestershire Business network.

The Results

By the end of the programme, Belinda’s marketing strategy was being implemented and she had grown in confidence with networking and perfecting her sixty second pitch.

In the follow up Business Strengths Analyzer, Belinda’s scores had increased in every category with an overall increase of 66%.

Of particular increase were service proposition, sales funnel plus customer engagement and retention.

In terms of her personal business owner strengths these scores had boosted by 7X in each of the four categories, (confidence as a business owner, satisfaction with business, work/life balance and being focused and productive.)
